A | A woman is in critical condition after being "forcibly shoved" into a moving subway train in New York City and then falling onto the tracks, police said.A male suspect in the apparent random attack is being sought, police said.The "horrific assault" occurred at the 53rd Street/Fifth Avenue station in midtown Manhattan midday Wednesday, NYPD Chief of Transit Michael Kaplan said during a press briefing.The 30-year-old victim was standing on the platform while a train was pulling out of the station when she was pushed, "causing her head to strike the moving train," Kaplan said.The victim then fell onto the tracks, at which point good Samaritans helped her back up on the platform and called 911, Kaplan said.She was transported to a local hospital with head trauma and underwent surgery, Kaplan said. She is currently in critical condition and is "fighting for her life," he said.It is unclear what led up to the assault, Kaplan said. Eyewitnesses are currently being interviewed and the victim has yet to speak to police, he said.Police identified a suspect in the assault as Sabir Jones, 45. He is known to the police department in the subway system, Kaplan said.Jones allegedly fled the location on foot and exited the turnstiles at West 53rd Street and Fifth Avenue, police said while releasing surveillance footage of the suspect. He has not yet been apprehended, Kaplan said.Officials said they believe the woman was going to or from work when she was randomly attacked."In the past year, we have made tremendous progress on subway crime," Janno Lieber, CEO of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, said during the briefing. "But that's no consolation to the family of this young woman."。 Gandhinagar, Oct 19 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to unveil the Hindustan Turbo Trainer-40, the indigenous Basic Trainer Aircraft designed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited here on Wednesday.
The Prime Minister will inaugurate India's biggest ever five day long defence exhibition DefExpo 2022 at Mahatma Mandir Convention and Exhibition Centre at around 9:45 AM and thereafter visit the India Pavilion to unveil the trainer aircraft.
The HTT-40 aircraft has state of art contemporary systems and has been designed with pilot friendly features.
The aircraft has already received its clearance certificate from Centre for Military Airworthiness and Certification (CEMILAC) based on extensive design evaluation, testing of aircraft systems and comprehensive flight testing carried out by HAL Flight Operations team along with pilots from IAF.
The project also set a record as the fastest to reach certification from the first flight.
In February last year, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited received a Request for Proposal (RFP) from the Indian Air Force for their Basic Trainers requirement at the Aero India 2021 in Bengaluru. The RFP was for 70 HTT-40 Basic Trainer Aircraft with provision for 38 more.
The trainer has more than 60 percent indigenous content and is supported by agencies such as Centre for Military Airworthiness and Certification (CEMILAC), Regional Director Aeronautical Quality Assurance (RDAQA), Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment (ASTE) among others.
During the programme at the DefExpo 2022, the Prime Minister will also launch Mission DefSpace here to develop innovative solutions for the Defence Forces in the Space domain through industry and startups.
Besides, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of Deesa airfield in Banaskantha district of Gujarat. As per sources, the air base, situated just 130 km from Pakistan border, will be operational by 2024.
The forward airforce base will add on to the security architecture of the country. Experts believe that the strategically located airbase will add teeth to the IAF's prowess along the western border.
Modi is on a two day visit to Gujarat on Wednesday and Thursday where he is set to dedicate and lay the foundation stone of projects worth around Rs 15,670 crore.
